Belinal® – Carbohydrate Blocker  –  Anti Diabetic Activity

Carbohydrates are an essential part of our diet, but not all carbohydrates are created equal. Some carbohydrates have a high Glycemic Index (GI), which means they cause rapid spikes in blood glucose levels after consumption. This can lead to weight gain, insulin resistance, and other complications.

Belinal® acts by inhibiting the enzymes alpha-amylase and alpha-glucosidase, which break down complex carbohydrates into simple sugars. By doing so, Belinal® reduces the amount and rate of glucose absorption from the gut, resulting in lower postprandial hyperglycemia after a starchy meal. This helps to regulate blood glucose levels and limit carbohydrate intake.

But that’s not all. Belinal® also has additional anti-diabetic effects through different mechanisms, as reported in scientific literature :

  • It enhances glucose uptake into muscle cells by activating the AMPK pathway, a key regulator of cellular energy metabolism.
  • It stimulates glucose uptake into adipocytes (fat cells) by increasing the translocation of glucose transporters GLUT4 to the cell membrane and the expression of adiponectin, a hormone that improves insulin sensitivity.
  • It protects and regenerates pancreatic beta-cells, which produce insulin, by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation.
  • It inhibits glucose transporters SGLT1 and SGLT2 in the intestinal wall, which further decreases glucose absorption and lowers blood glucose levels.

High postprandial glucose levels are a major risk factor for the development of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Therefore, Belinal® may offer a natural and effective way to prevent or treat these conditions by modulating carbohydrate metabolism.

Clinical Study Demonstrating Glucose Inhibition By 35%

Belinal® has been tested in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled and active-controlled (Acarbose) clinical study with 31 healthy adults. The results showed that after the consumption of 100 g of white bread supplemented with Belinal®, the concentration of blood glucose was significantly reduced by 35% compared to the placebo group. No side effects appeared during the study.

The starch digestion blocking effect of Belinal® is beneficial for:

  • Managing body weight
  • Reducing fatigue after eating a meal
  • Maintaining a healthy glucose level
  • Lowering the glycemic index of a meal
  • Preventing type 2 diabetes

Belinal® may be of interest for people looking for natural solutions to manage post-meal blood glucose and body weight without side effects.

Suggested dose of Belinal® in your formula

75 mg          15 min before a meal     2 times daily
